The City of Shawnee is asking all residents to participate in The National Citizen SurveyT (The NCST). The survey is designed to provide a baseline of how the city government is serving residents, to gauge perceptions of the city and to make comparisons with peer cities.
The survey process started in November with a random and scientific sample of 2,200 households. Selected households received invitations to participate in the mail. Citizens that received a survey in the mail should return those in the provided envelope at their earliest convenience.
In an effort to ensure broad participation, the survey process has now been extended to all residents. City Manager, Justin Erickson highlighted this extension noting that, "citizens who did not receive a survey in the mail, now have an opportunity to have their voice heard and provide valuable feedback to elected and appointed officials." Like the mailed survey, all responses are completely anonymous. The survey will remain open until January 11.

NOTICE OF VACANCY ON SHAWNEE CITY COMMISSION
The Board of Commissioners of the City of Shawnee will appoint a new City Commissioner to represent Ward 6 until the next general or special municipal election and until a successor is elected and qualified. All persons residing in Ward 6 who are at least 25 years old and qualified electors of the City of Shawnee may apply for the seat. The person appointed must qualify to hold the office under State Law and the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Shawnee.
Applications may be obtained from the City of Shawnee's website, www.shawneeok.org or may be obtained at the City Clerk's Office at City Hall, 16 West 9th Street. Public Notice: City considers changes to Ward Boundaries on January 17, 2017
The City is comprised of six wards and after each Federal Census, we are required to review the population of each ward to ensure that the population distribution between wards is substantially equal. Please see the documents below for an overview of the analysis that was completed and for a detailed review of proposed changes.

Memorial Wall Dedication
On December 10, 2016 there will be a Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Woodland Veterans Park at 11:00 am to dedicate the memorial wall that lists all of the soldiers that lost there life defending our country. The list begins with the Spanish/American war and continues through today of all KIA that their home of record was Oklahoma. All are welcome to attend.
