The City of Shawnee appreciates everyone's concern relating to animal issues within our community. The City of Shawnee strives to work closely with local animal agencies and organizations. Those that are concerned and not even from our area, or state may assist us by sending a donation to our cause, or to one of our local rescues (ARC of Shawnee, or Saving Pets At Risk).
The City Animal Control Officers are scheduled to attend euthanizing technician training this month. The City is also in a slow process of building our infrastructure to provide euthanizing by injection. This is however an expensive endeavor and any assistance is appreciated.
With this said, we are very proud of the many people and organizations that rescue from our shelter as only sixteen animals were euthanized in December of 2014, eleven in January of 2015 and only four in February. The City's I.T. department has updated our web site and animals that are taken in are made public for adoption, reclaiming, or rescuing.
