Heavy snow expected to continue through mid afternoon. 2 inch accumulation measured so far. Up to 4 inches of accumulation expected. Travel is discouraged as conditions continue to deteriorate.
Snow plows are out but will be hampered by the continuing heavy snow fall. When the snow ends later this afternoon, crews will be able to make better progress.
Shawnee police are using 4 wheel drive vehicles to respond to calls and patrol the streets. Again, travel is being discouraged especially in cars that sit low to the ground which may easily become stuck in snow drifts.
