A candidate forum on three races set for the June 24 primary election will be held Thursday, May 29, announced PAVE, the Pottawatomie County Advocates for Voter Education.
The forum will begin at 7 p.m. in the Shawnee City Hall commission chambers. PAVE president Marilyn Bradford will serve as moderator. Featured will be the Ward 6 race for the Shawnee City Commission, the state House of Representatives Dist. 27 Republican primary race, and the state Senate Dist. 28 race.
Invited to participate are City Commission candidates Michael Dykstra, Larry G. Smith and Steven Smith; Dist. 27 candidates Josh Cockrock and Lani Habrock; and Senate Dist. 28 candidates Billy Hinton and Marily Rainwater, Democdrats; and Michael Ballard, Joe Dobry, Charles Mashek, Jason Smalley and Danny Williams.
At the forum, candidates will make brief opening and closing statements, and will answer written questions submitted from the audience and screened for relevance and duplication. Those planning to attend are encouraged to write out their questions in advance to help include as many questions as possible, although cards will be available at the forum so questions can be written there.
All forums are open to the public at no charge.
